  • Volusia County: No building permit needed for sheds up to 480 sq ft (effective June 2025). Just follow zoning or HOA rules.

  • Marion County: No permit required for sheds up to 160 sq ft in unincorporated areas.

  • Lake County: Sheds up to 120 sq ft with no utilities are permit-exempt.

  • Seminole County: Storage sheds 200 sq ft or smaller are generally exempt under Florida Building Code 102.2.5.

  • Orange County / City of Orlando: Sheds under 120 sq ft only need a zoning approval — no engineered plans required.
